Last week, a friend of mine was telling me she has to use Magic for her keyboarding class. At the time, I didn't know what that was, but she told me it is very hard to use. She is totally blind and I told her to go to the freedom scientific website to download a free demo version of jaws, as the commission is not doing a very good job of assisting her with this. But still the instructor is insisting on trying this program out with her, because apparently it is a screen reader. From what it sounded like though, it seemed to me like zoomtext, something a person with low vision would use. I looked it up on freedom scientific, but nothing on there explains to me what it is. I feel stupid! What is it? And does it work for a totally blind person? Is there any way a totally blind person can use it? Or was I right in recommending she download a demo of jaws 9! Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I need to help my friend, who is getting more behind in her keyboarding class!
i used to know people that used magic at my old school. it's a magnification software. the friends i knew used jaws for the speech, and magic along side it for the magnification. as far as i know, magic does not have it's own voices.
hope this helps
Magic if purchased as magic with speech does have eloquence as a synthesizer, but it is for those with some usable vision as it does not have all the screenreading features of jaws.
Magic is a screen magnigication software, that uses elequoents as its speech. If your friend is totally blind, she'd be better off with jaws 8 9 or 10
Oh ok, that's what I thought but I wanted to make sure!
